On March 6 and 7, 2009, Lakes Community Theatre hosted the Iowa - American
Association of Community Theatre Festival at the Pearson Lakes Art
Center in Okoboji,Iowa. Six community theatre companies from across
the state brought productions to compete for to go on the the Regional
Festival in Minden, NE , April 23-26, 2009. Two theatre companies
represented Iowa at the Regional Festival. Lakes Community
Theatre's production of "The Most Massive Woman Wins" and Newton
Community Theatre's production of "Hot Flashes" advanced to
the Regional Competition.

Among the other awards announced at the Boji Mardi Gras themed awards
banquet, Timothy J McIlrath was named Best Director for his direction
of "The Most Massive Woman Wins". Brenda Marks was selected Best
Supporting Actress for her portrayal of Cel in "The Most Massive Woman
Wins". Best Lighting Design went to Brian Kessler for "The Most
Massive Woman Wins".

We are all so very grateful for the honors bestowed on our production
of "The Most Massive Woman Wins".
